Cyprus has always been considered the island of Aphrodite Cypris (of Cyprus), goddess of love and beauty.
The Smart Way touches the most important archaeological sites dedicated to its ancient cult: among others Palaipafos (Kouklia), declared UNESCO World Heritage Site, Amathous, Kition and Pafos, with links to other sites, museums and nature trails connected to the goddess, such as the peninsula in the northwest of Cyprus, known as Akamas, a wild and uninhabited region with spectacular landscapes and beaches.
The itinerary ends in the museums of the capital, Nicosia, where most of the finds of the archaeological sites are kept: the National Museum of Cyprus, with remains dating back to the Neolithic Age (8000 – 3500 BC), demonstrating that this island has been inhabited since truly ancient times. The Smart Way also passes through Ayia Napa, Larnaca, Limassol, and the Troodos Mountains.
